Bishop Leon Smith

Administrative Leon Smith is a native of Atlanta, Texas. As a teenager, he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1958. His early education began in Texas at Booker T. Washington School. He continued his secondary education at Rancho and Las Vegas High Schools respectively, graduating from Rancho High in 1962. His thirsts for higher educational opportunity were preparation ground. Elder smith attended the University of Nevada in Reno and the University of Nevada in Las Vegas, Nevada where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science and a Master's degree in Educational Administrative. Professional employment opportunities lead him to state service where he served as an Assistant Warden for the Department of Prisons, Supervisor and counselor for Nevada Employment Security Department presiding over assessment and counseling, orientation, recruitment and on the job training. He is recognized as one of the first head start teachers in Clark County. He was employed by the Clark County School District as Secondary Educational teacher and worked with EG&G as an accountant. Administrative Assistant Smith was united with Enon Baptist church as a child and in June of 1960 during the Annual Holy Convocation was saved on the grounds at 1117 N. “F” street. He attended Cox Theological Seminary and accepted his call to ministry in 1965. He was ordained in 1968 becoming a national Evangelist. Administrative Asst. Smith received his pastoral appointment from Bishop E. N. Webb to the New Covenant church of God in Christ in 1976 unto the diminishing health of Sisters Marilyn Smith. He continued his tireless effort of faith ministry working with the late Bishop E. N. Webb at Pentecostal Temple. He is to be commended for his exemplary and charismatic life as a Pastor. His giving spirit, love of the entire church body dedication, and most especially his anointing, are acknowledge and appreciated by his entire flock at Pentecostal Temple as well as the State of Nevada. He now presides as the Bishop for the Nevada First Jurisdiction.
